There are seven people in my family. My mother is a housewife and she has no income. My father is a motorbike driver. He has to take care of the whole family. In Viet Nam, the grandparents live in the home. My grandmother is very weak and my uncle who also living with us has mental illness. My father’s work depends on the weather. Do you know about the weather in South Viet Nam? There are two seasons: the rainy and the dry season. Therefore, in the rainy season my father has to quit driving because it rains all day. The streets are flooded on those days and my family has no money to buy food to eat. We have to eat sweet potato instead of rice. Even sometimes, we went to bed with an empty stomach. I am too young to earn money to help my parents. Sometimes my elder brother and I want to give up our studies but my parents did not permit us to do that. They said that the most importance thing in life is to have an education. As learning is a big gift for them. My father tries his best to earn enough money to support us but cannot. My wish is that somebody can help me continue my education.

Thao's family is crowded. Her brother has a heart disease. They have a little farmland, so they have financial difficulties. Their hope is to keep the child from dropping out of school
